Brzopotezni šah, blitz, gives each player a few minutes for the whole game, so a club can finish a full tournament in one evening or one Saturday morning. Maksimir plays its Maximirac club blitz championship on Monday evenings at Bijenička cesta 97, Aer runs the Branimirac blitz series in the market building on Kneza Branimira, Špansko holds a numbered blitz most months at Trg Ivana Kukuljevića, and Travno gives its blitz tournaments themed names.

Dama i Kralj plays blitz in the hall of the Ante Kovačić primary school, Maksimirski gambit ran the Bukovac Blitz, e4 co-organises the open blitz of the Grand Chess Tour stop in July, and Sesvete Agroproteinka plays in the hall at Kelekova 2. In the county, Jaska organised the county team blitz championship, Dugo Selo holds an international blitz, and Rugvica and Zaprešić play the short format as well.
